High School Security Enhancements

Currently we are in the process of distributing swipe cards to students for controlled access to our building during the school day. The cards are assigned individually to students with a digital record of the student carrying the card. It will also have a photo ID on the card. These cards will allow our students and staff to move between our buildings without having to leave perimeter doors of the building unlocked. This addition will allow us to control access to our buildings and greatly improve the safety of students and staff.

Two Navarro Intermediate School students are in custody as a result of the investigation into the terroristic threat penciled on the bathroom wall at the school Wednesday. We are very grateful to the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s office for their tireless effort on our behalf in solving this issue. The Department of Public Safety also helped in the investigation—many thanks to them, as well.

We are continuing to investigate the threatening message left on the wall of the 6th grade boys bathroom yesterday. The administration and the Sheriff’s Office are following active leads that we are hopeful will lead to a resolution very soon. We continue to believe that our students are safe, but we are also very grateful to the Sheriff’s Office for providing a deputy to be exclusively and continuously present in the 6th grade hallway.

District Announcement

A threatening message was written in a 6th grade boys bathroom stall today. Several students saw and reported the message, so word spread. Some students were very understandably upset and met with the counselor. This does not appear to be an imminent or specific threat to our students, but administrators and the Sheriff’s Office are investigating. If your child has factual information to report please use the StopIt app, https://appweb.stopitsolutions.com/login, or call 830-743-1959.
